Christopher Owens - Chrissybaby Forever
Former Girls frontman, Christopher Owens has just dropped a killer 16-track LP out of nowhere. Just six days ago, Owens shared the track "Selfish Feelings" on Soundcloud, mentioning that it was a track from a forthcoming album. Little did we know that this very same album he talks about was due to be released in less than a week. This album musically pays a visit to his old band, Girls, with its simple guitar tracks, and jangly melodies. It’s the first solo album he’s recorded with just one engineer, J. J. Wiesler and while I felt his last album, "New Testament" was a little too Country for me, Owens' finds solitude in this catchy, melodic and above all, Rock and Roll LP.
It's Post-Heroin addiction, a new love and a new life for Owens. Although I've only had the opportunity to listen to it through once, I'm incredibly hooked and can't seem to sit still when listening to it. The album cover is definitely a personal favourite of mine and was taken by his other half, Hannah Hunt (Ezra Koening loved her name so much that he decided to name a track after her in Vampire Weekends "Modern Vampires of The City"). This is a sweet one folks and you're in for a real treat this summer.
Tracks to look out for are, "Another Loser Fuck up", "Heroin (Got nothing on you)", "I Love You Like I do" and "Selfish Feelings".
